Police identified the kid as Twero Ogenrwot. According to a preliminary report, the suspect reacted harshly after finding the deceased kid playing by the roadside – which was against several warnings not to leave home – swinging a single kick that killed him, instantly.

David Ongom Mudong – the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, said the suspect attempted to hide the body of the deceased about 50 metres from the crime scene but neighbours found it.

Mudong said the police had apprehended the suspected – detaining him at Pabbo Police Station pending investigations.

The deceased body, according to Mudong, was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for post-mortem – noting that the minor wouldn’t have met death had the stepfather taken up the responsibility of guiding instead of punishing him.

Meanwhile, police in Nwoya district are investigating circumstances that led to the death of an unidentified person whose skeletal remains were discovered on Sunday.

The remains of the yet-to-be-identified individual were discovered by boys in a bush in Lapem village in Coorom Parish, Koch Goma sub-county.

Mudong said statements were recorded from neighbours in the area, adding that the remains were retrieved by the homicide team and taken to Anaka General Hospital for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
