MBARARA – The Minister for Information Communication Technology – ICT and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi was on Saturday night airlifted to Kampala for medical attention after reportedly collapsing in his Kinkiizi East Constituency, in Kanungu district.

Dr Baryomunsi is said to have fainted at around 6:00pm while on his way from Ruhija in Muramba parish, Rutenga sub County where he had donated iron sheets to a Church at Kyakikyere, according to Godfrey Karabenda -Kanungu district National Resistance Movement- NRM party boss.

Karabenda said Baryomunsi lost consciousness as he rushed to attend another function in Kambuga sub county. He did not; however reveal details of the function in Kambuga.

Karabenda narrated that Baryomunsi was, first rushed to Kambuga hospital for treatment where health workers discovered that his medical condition needed a better facility – hence the 10:30pm helicopter airlifting to Kampala for specialised treatment.

Eye witnesses claimed the helicopter that picked him belonged to the military.

Kararenda said that at the time he was airlifted, Dr Baryomunsi had shown signs of responding well to the first treatment.

Another eyewitness – Fred Turyamomwe recorded the proceedings of Baryomunsi’s airlifting on video – captioning the same; “quickest recovery….”

Dr Baryomunsi’s fainting came days after attacking Uganda’s tweeting Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba – cautioning him to refrain from making political statements.
