LUWERO – Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped Khalid Ssebi – the Nakaseke Central legislator, Allan Mayanja Ssebunya’s private bodyguard.

Ssebi’s wife – Kasifa Ocogoru narrated that while sleeping at her home at around 2:00am on Wednesday, her female friend knocked on her door with the bad news about the kidnap of her husband, who was also working as a guard at Kiwoko Citizens’ High School in Kiwoko Town Council in Nakaseke district.

She explained that her friend informed her how the men who had kidnapped Ssebi were dressed casually and driving a minibus commonly referred to as drone – the vans infamously synonymous with abductions of opposition politicians in Uganda.

Ocogoru said that her friend had told her that when Ssebi tried to inquire from the gunmen why they targeted him – they allegedly told him that his story was long – bundled him into the numberless vehicle and sped off.

Ocogoru added that she immediately woke up the head teacher – Margaret Naseri – notifying her about the unfortunate development.

Naseri – the Head teacher of Kiwoko Citizens’ High School confirmed the incident – saying that they lodged a complaint at Kiwoko Police Station.

Nakaseke Central Member of Parliament, Allan Mayanja Ssebunya said that Ssebi provided with services whenever he was in the constituency and is a member of the Opposition National Unity Platform – NUP, where he also belongs. He said that Ssebi suffered the wrath of security even during the general elections.

Patrick Lule – the Savannah Regional acting Police spokesperson promised to respond later, saying that he was still held up in a meeting.
