KAMPALA – The police in Kakiri, Wakiso district, have launched a hunt for two men suspected to have killed their colleague, Amos Muhindo.
Muhindo’s body was discovered on Friday after residents of Kitayita village, Namayumba sub-county, raised concern over a stench from a house that had three occupants – alerting police suspecting that all occupants were dead. But when the homicide and scene of crime officers broke into the house, they found Muhindo’s decomposed body covered in blood.
It has since been established that Muhindo was staying in the house with two men identified as Isaac and Kizito whose whereabouts are currently unknown. Police now suspect that Muhindo, who was a renowned builder in the area, was hacked to death by his colleagues and they later disappeared.
Luke Owoyesigire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said that a panga had been recovered from the scene of crime as an exhibit.
Owoyesigyire also re-echoed the Kakiri homicide and scene of crime officers’ report that Muhindo’s body was in a decomposing state almost beyond recognition.
“The incident was alerted to police by the neighbours after a smell coming from the house and flies on the door. We have opened inquiries and we are looking for the two suspects Isaac and Kizito,”said Owoyesigyire.
Muhindo’s murder by people suspected to have been close confidants comes on the heels of the on-going investigations into the murder of Rwandan national Ricky Kabagambe. His body was also found covered in blood barely a month ago in Kinonya zone, Masanafu parish, Lubaga division, in Kampala.
Old Kampala homicide team arrested the victim’s young brother John Ayagamba who has since confessed to murdering him over money. Five suspects are in custody over the murder.
