HOIMA – Uganda Police Force will meet the medical bills of a two-year-old ltakabir Kyakuhaire – the victim of a stray bullet in Hoima city. The minor from Bulemwa village in Hoima city West Division has since been referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for specialised medical attention.
Kyokuhaire was injured on Tuesday when Flying squad operatives from the Albertine regional police headquarters opened fire in a pursuit of suspected vehicle robbers who were travelling in a Toyota Wish Reg. No. UBB 533X.
The stray bullet hit the minor on the head critically injuring him. He was rushed to Destiny Medical Centre for first aid before referring to Mulago National Referral Hospital after his condition had deteriorated.
Julius Hakiza – the Albertine Region police spokesperson said in an interview on Saturday that the force was ready to meet all the medical bills of the injured child. Hed added the the police were liaising with the victim’s family to ensure that the boy got appropriate medical attention.
However, the minor’s father, Ashraf Kyakuhaire, revealed that no police officer or any representative had forwarded to them any financial assistance in regard to his child’s incident.
