JINJA –Renowned Jinja City-based Musician, David Kakaire aka Ronald Bamukisa alias Top K spent the night in the coolers for alleged defilement.
Patrons at Green Summer bar and lodge in Jinja City’s Southern division – rounded up Top K on Saturday for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl – whom he had lured from Kayunga.
He however, attempted to lock himself inside the bar – prompting the facility’s attendants to alert police – who swiftly responded – forcing the door open and arresting him.
The Nzira Musango singer spent the night at Jinja Central Police Station – awaiting prosecution. The minor’s father, whose name has been withheld, claims that Top K was conducting music shows in Kayunga district, where he mobilised young girls to act as dancers.
He narrated that a dozen parents entrusted the local musician with their daughters but became suspicious of his activities mid-last month when he started asking them to allow their children to conduct overnight rehearsals at his preferred location without supervision from female caretakers.
The father added Top K left Kayunga with his daughter on Friday without his authorisation – only to learn through a friend on Sunday that the two had been arrested from Green Summer lodge in Jinja city.
Top K has since denied the allegations levelled against him – insisting that he never had sexual intercourse with the minor.
Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson, James Mubi confirmed the incident – saying that the victim had been thoroughly examined but details in the medical report were still a secret to avoid jeopardising their investigations. Mubi added that the suspect faced two counts of abduction and aggravated defilement.
Abduction is the term used to describe the act of taking away of a person either forcefully or by deception while under Penal Code Act defilement refers to ‘unlawful sexual intercourse’ with a girl under the age of eighteen years – which offence when convicted is punishable by death.
