Samson Kasasira – the Rwizi region police spokesperson who confirmed the incident – narrated that Kiiza disappeared after the shooting – taking his gun and that of his colleague but dropped the same weapons about 20 meters away.

Kasasira said police had recovered the two rifles registration numbers- SAR UG.POL 92221108090 and UG.POL.FH 68536-108385 – revealing further that preliminary findings indicated that the incident was the climax of a fight between the suspect and the deceased over a woman that occurred on January 25, 2023 at a bar.

Stella Kusiima – the owner of the said bar noted that the woman in question had escaped from the scene as the chaos escalated. She revealed that the suspect had come in close contact with the deceased – stopped him; shot; and took off.

New Uganda Securico Company authorities declined to comment on the matter as their regional manager claimed such information hadn’t been forwarded to his desk.

This is the second incident where a security guard shot to death a person within a space of two weeks and flees into hiding in the region after a similar case was reported in Sheema district where a guard attached to Thunder World Security Group killed a colleague over a woman.
