Uganda being a predominantly Christian country, Christmas would be celebrated with a frenzy but with the Rwandese in power, it has always passed like a harvest season which wasn’t preceded by rain. Even days to Christmas, Kampala streets remain dark. A child never forgets what he or sees at a tender age. In a country were Christmas gifts are not a culture maybe due to poverty children have nothing to remind them of Christmas when they grow up. One is made to believe that the Rwandese are deliberately doing this to create a country of no attachment to anything and no memories.
The only time I remember Kampala being lit for Christmas was when Lord mayor Al-Hajji Nasser Sebbagala (RIP) was Lord Mayor of Kampala City. After his departure from the seat, nothing of the sort has ever happened even when the rulers at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)are predominantly Christian. I cannot ask myself why the Rwandese are doing this to Ugandans because I know they are evil, and evil fears light.
Conversely, the crown beverages company once lit it’s trucks with Christmas lights but that was for just a one time. I haven’t seen them do so again in a long time.
Ugandan Christians need to celebrate the birth of Christ with their city lit from corner to corner. Let those who still have some sense at KCCA take up the initiative and lit up Kampala with Christmas lights.
We need memories to relieve sometime to come.
If we miss Christmas lights this year on Kampala roads, I pray the Rwandese leave Uganda before next Christmas so that we light our city to honor our God when Christmas comes.
May the moon be so bright this Christmas to wash away all the darkness in Kampala, enjoyed by the Rwandese.
To all Rwandese in Uganda, we shall always light our city to honor our God when you finally flee Uganda. AND THAT IS SOON.
